Chapter 6: The Psychology of Dreams

The fifth body type of dream becomes in a way much more real, amazingly. The four preceding dreams are unreal in a sense, because first, they are individual. Secondly, there is no possibility of another being present in your dream. There is no possibility of sharing the experience; there is no possibility of judging the validity of it - whether it is still a fantasy. And there is a difference between fantasy and dreams. Fantasy means something you have projected; dream means something which is not in existence - you have come to know it. So the more inward, the dreaming becomes less fantastic, less imaginary; more objective, more real, more authentic.

The fifth body has created all the theological concepts. They differ in their language, terminology, formulation, conceptualization, but basically they are one and the same - and dreamed by the fifth center, by the fifth body, by the fifth dimension of dreaming.

Then the sixth, the cosmic body. Now you cross the threshold of consciousness. The unconscious, the conscious, matter, the mind, lose all distinctions. The sixth - the cosmic body - dreams about the cosmos, not about conscious dreams, not about human beings; not a thing involved. Now you cross the threshold of consciousness. Not that you become unconscious but the unconscious world becomes conscious. Now everything is living and conscious. Even what we call matter is now not matter, but mind.

In the sixth body, dreams of cosmic truths have been realized. These theories of Brahman, maya, these theories of oneness, theories of the infinite, these have all been realized in the sixth type of dream. Those who have dreamed into the cosmic dimension have been the creators of the great systems. Symbols still differ, but now there is not much difference. The memory becomes non-symbolic. Language becomes an invitation. Language just fingers something, it just touches, but still the language is positive. We have crossed individuality, we have crossed consciousness, we have crossed time and space, but still the language is positive.

The sixth type of mind dreams in terms of being, not in terms of not being; in terms of positive existence, not in terms of non-existence. Still there is a clinging, the existent; still there is a fear of the non-existent. Matter and mind have become one, but not existence and non-existence, not being and non-being. They are still separate. This is the last barrier.

Then there is the seventh body, the nirvanic, which crosses the boundary of the positive and jumps into nothingness. The seventh body has its own dreams: dreams of non-existence, dreams of nothingness, dreams of the void. The yes has been left behind, and even the no becomes lazy. Now even the no is not a no; the nothingness is not nothing. Rather, the nothingness is even more infinite, because the positive cannot be infinite in a sense. The positive must have boundaries. However we think, howsoever we conceive, the positive implies boundaries. Only the negative is the realm of no boundaries.

So the seventh body has its own dreams. Now there are no symbols, now there are no forms. Now the formless is. There is no sound but the soundless. Now this silence - the dream of silence, total, unending.

These are the seven bodies, and the seven bodies have each got their own dreams. One thing now is to be understood: these seven bodies and their seven dimensions of dreams can become a hindrance to knowing the seven types of realities.
