There have been only few people like Socrates for you and for truth. They are not ready to accept lies just because those lies are very consolatory.

Everybody wants to be protected. This is a childish desire. That is why you all call god the “father.” It is a father fixation. Why you should need a father in the heaven? Can’t you stand on your own feet? Can’t you face life with your own consciousness? Why do you want to throw the responsibility of something absolutely unknown to you?

This was the crime of Socrates, that he said, “There is no god…”

There is certainly truth, but you have to find it. You cannot borrow it. You cannot learn it through scriptures.

Truth is something so private, so intimate that every individual has to discover it for himself. And it is good, otherwise there would have been shops in the market selling truth. And in fact, in some way, there are shops already – your churches, your temples, your mosques. What they are doing? They are selling truth very cheap. They are all asking one thing: “Believe in Jesus Christ. Believe in Krishna. Believe in Gautama Buddha and you don’t have to do anything at all. Your believe is enough.”

Have you ever thought, that how can you believe? Belief is impossible. Doubt will always remain hidden within you. You can force the doubt as deeply as possible, but the more you force it, the more it becomes the part of your unconscious mind. Deeper goes the roots of doubt. Belief remains just superficial. No belief can destroy doubt. and all the religions have been thinking it is possible. It is simple impossible by the very nature of things. Believing means that you don’t know and if you don’t know, how can you drop the doubt? The doubt can be covered with the belief system, but it is there and it will remains always there and death will expose you and your beliefs and bring the doubt which for your whole life you have been suppressing. You will die in doubt. You lived in doubt. And a life of doubt is not a truth life. The only way to get rid of doubt is to discover truth on your own. Don’t borrow it. Don’t go for cheap things. It is the costliest thing in the world. One has to risk his own life, his own being to discover it and it is worth, because the moment you discover truth, you have discovered simultaneously many things with it: your immortality, that there is no death.

You have discovered with it a tremendous ecstasy which has no source and it is inexhaustible.

And you have discovered that you are not separate from existence, that you are not abandoned by existence, that existence is continually supporting you.

You are part of it – intrinsic part of it. Each breath, each beat of your heart is the beat of the whole existence.

Each moment you are one with the whole.

This experience gives you authority. All doubt disappears just as when you put the light on, darkness disappears.
