Osho,
There is a great sense of weakness and helplessness. Where is one to find strength from? The moments of realness are very small and the burden of habits is so great.
Really, it is not like this. It is not that you feel helpless and weak because you don’t have strength. You feel weak because there is a craving for more strength. It is comparative, it is relative.
It is not that you are weak. You are as you are, neither weak nor strong. But there is a craving to be stronger, to be more – in any dimension. That craving creates comparison, and that craving will continue within you. So wherever you are, howsoever strong, it makes no difference. You will feel weak because your craving will have grown further. There will be this distance, the same distance, and you will feel weak and helpless.
So one has to understand why you feel weak. You feel weak because you create an image of strength. You create an end and put it somewhere in the future. Then you feel weak.
This weakness is just your creation. And it makes no difference – even if you are made the whole and soul in this universe, even if you are a god, it will make no difference. You will create the same distinction; the same distance will be created. You will feel weak because the same mind will be there; it will again project a better situation. The mind can always project and imagine a better situation. No situation is such that you cannot imagine a better one. You can always imagine a better one, and if you can imagine a better one, you will feel weak.
So what to do? There have been teachers who say. “Don’t look into the future. Look in the past.” They say: “If you want to feel strong, don’t create an image of strength but look back and see how weak you were. Then you will feel strong.”
But the fallacy is the same and the foolishness is the same. It makes no difference, no difference. If you feel strong in comparison to some weak image about your own past or of some other’s, it will be impossible to escape the future. If you create this, you will create the other. There is another pole of it; you cannot escape it. So as far as I am concerned, I see that whatsoever you are, you can neither be more nor less at this moment – whatsoever you are, X, Y, Z; whatsoever you are. In this moment, the whole universe, the whole of existence, has culminated in you as you are.
If you go just anywhere from this point, you will create misery for yourself. Remain with this facticity of your being: you are this. “This is the fact, and I don’t create any image to be compared with. This is the fact; I am this. I am angry, I am anger. This is the fact. At this moment, this is the truth. And if I am ready and daring and courageous enough to be with the fact, then there is no weakness, and no helplessness at all.”
